Voice over Internet Protocol
(VoIP or IP Telephony)

Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, is the technology that allows you to transmit voice conversations over an internal or external data network allowing you to speak to anyone with a VoIP phone or regular phone number across the globe.

VoIP can be implemented in several ways, from a software program installed on your computer used with a headset and microphone to adaptors used with regular analogue phones or dedicated VoIP phones.

Advantages of VoIP for your business:

Cost

The major advantage when calling another VoIP connection is that you are not paying per call, length of call or destination location. You still have to pay for VoIP calls to regular phone numbers, but these are usually less than regular connection costs.
Calls between your own offices across the country can all be free when made between VoIP connections.

Manageability
Employees spread all over the country working from branch offices (or even home/office locations) can be given extensions of a single number with the ability to route calls between them. Callers would be unaware that employees are not all in one central office location. VoIP also allows businesses to utilise features such as video conferencing.

Integration
You can better integrate your phones, voicemail, email, SMS, faxes and other communication.

Feedback/Monitoring
You can get stats on phone usage, users' call times, etc. for monitoring.
